On Sunday evening, singer Asim Azhar announced his engagement to Merub Ali, a longtime family friend. The pair announced the news on Instagram alongside photographs from their engagement ceremony. However, not long after their messages went up, individuals began recalling a bogus discussion in which Azhar referred to his now-fiancée as his’sister,’ prompting Azhar to refute the news once again.
Ali has also pleaded with supporters not to drag down other people while praising the couple.
Azhar and Ali both made identical Instagram postings, pleading with their fans and followers to pray for them. The couple wrote, “Thank you, Alhamdulillah. We announce our Imam Zamin – engagement with the blessings of Allah Almighty and the duas of our parents. May Allah SWT and Ahlebait forever protect us and keep us happy, Aameen. Please remember us in your prayers.”
A few hours after their declaration was made public, Azhar took to Twitter to call out individuals who shared a “false screenshot” from a news channel stating he had referred to Ali as his sister, something he had previously corrected a year ago. “Reminder: Because this is a special time in my life that I want to cherish, doosre ki khushi mai khush hona chahiye. Azhar further stated in another tweet that “clarification” was necessary because the “storey was revolting” and hinted that everyone would soon receive their fair portion of sweets (mithai). He also expressed gratitude to followers for their support and duas for his engagement.
Numerous celebrity news sites tweeted a photo of actress Gul-e-Rana, Azhar’s mother, and Ali’s mother, Rozina Khan, dressed in attire resembling that worn at the engagement ceremony. According to the sites, the shot was shared in July, prompting speculation that the couple’s engagement occurred sooner than previously revealed. Ali appealed on Instagram that people “refrain” from disseminating misleading information, such as phoney dates. “Refrain from inviting other humans to join us in our celebrations. There had been numerous whispers about the couple — the public was completely unaware of their relationship. Some assumed they were cousins, some assumed they were acquaintances, and still others assumed they were romantically connected. Ali emphasised in a December interview that they were most emphatically not related. “We are not half-siblings or cousins. Pata nahi bus [I’m not sure, that’s all] — we’re wonderful family friends who’ve known each other since we were children. My brother is his closest confidant, and our mothers are also confidantes.”
Ali is a model who made her acting debut in Sinf-e-Aahan opposite Sajal Aly, Kubra Khan, Syra Yousuf, and many more notable actors. Azhar is, of course, one of Pakistan’s most popular singers and is about to release his debut album.
